Free The Children's Mission: " Free children from poverty and exploitation, and to empower young people to take action to improve the lives of their peers in developing countries."
Free The Children became developed when Craig Kielburger was 12 years old in 1955. He saw the article " Battled Child Labour, Boy, 12 ,Murdered. " Craig Keilburger gathered 11 of his grade 7 school friends, and then " Free The Children " was born.Bonded Labour and child slavery is definately not right and this is the main reason on how this began. Me To We is a social enterprises that seeks to support Free The Children. Me to We is helping Free The Children by providing a funding source to offest their administrative expenses. This helps Free The Children become sustainable in their work. Supporting them in their goal to end poverty, and thus putting themselves out of a job.
This is an article that I read about new Me To We Families. This is some of the things they do to help you and your family.
"This is a place to come if you want to discuss how to help your kid to care about the world, and maybe even make a difference – large and very possibly small, but a difference, all the same. It’s about everything from nurturing empathy to doling out allowance in exchange for chores – should you or shouldn’t you. It’s especially about nurturing global citizens" http://www.metowe.com/movement/parents/
Me To We is " best friends " with Free The Children when it comes to children helping children, and changing the world, they find new ways to help out and try to chance society's way of thinking and responding. The Me to We have build over 650 schools in the past and helped to teach proper education to over 55,ooo children every day. They help develop income potentials, and water sanitations and they even help with medical aid for those around who need it.
It is the youth of today who help keep this all going, their passion to help and make a difference. They help try and create ways of helping and reaching out tothe people of these so desperately needed nations. Right now 50% of the net profits that Me to We raise goes towards the support of Free the Children in the hope that one day, every dollars the youth of today raises through either car washes, bbq's bake sales or whatever they do, the entire profilet will be put forth for the Organization.
This partnership has definately befinited both the Me to We and also the Free the Children but if you look at this closely you will see that almost anyone that gets involved with either , by either volunteering their time or fundraising or just speaking about it to a friend or co-worker, this is all good, its all about how we help other people and how our youth of today will become better adults of tomorrow.

If I were able to have my own television show, based completly around me, I would want my show to speak about and be aimed on the youth of Canada. I would want it to adress issuess and topics that were relevant to today's youth. I would want the show to have an edge and address the hard issuess that today's youth deal with.
If I had my own television series I would want it to be completly on the orginization Free The Children. This is not only Canada's largest network of children helping children. But it's the biggest network of children helping children in the world ! This program has recieved the World's Children's Prize for the Right's of the Child, the Human's Right's Award, and is in partnership with Oprah's Angel's Network.
Also, I would have a spot for the Think Pink program about bulllying. Think Pink is a great program school's hold all the time, to stop the bullying. It show's aa level of stregth and understanding that students all over the world know what today means. The International Day Of Pink got it's start in Nova Scotia. When 2 grade 12 students stood up for a grade 9 student who was threatened and called a homosexual after he wore a pink shirt to school. The older students bought 50 pink shirts and began e-mailing classmates to get them on board. Hundreds of students ended up donning pink clothing.
I would want my television show to have that mix. I would want current and international issues, real life stories, Insperation, and youth apperances on the show ! All those things leading up to making a difference ! With great corperate sponsers, and right topics, and me hosting it I think it would be a hit !
You may have been wondering, " Where is Miss Teen Central Nova Scotia World 2010 really from? " "Where does she really call home? " Well In This next post I will tell you.
M name is Rebecca Drover. I am a very courageous and resoinsible 14 year old girl. I am very bubbly, outgoing, and matture. I love my hillarious family, and all my friends ! My culture and community mean alot to me !
The Province I really call home is Newfoundland.
Newfoundland, or, Newfoundland and Labrador as it is currently referred, easternmost province of Canada. It is Canada's newest province, joining the Confederation in 1949. The province has two sections: Newfoundland, the island, and Labrador, on the mainland. From 1927 to 1965 the name Newfoundland was used both for the island and for the entire province. In 1965 the province's name was changed to Newfoundland and Labrador. Labrador is bounded by Québec on the land side, and by the Atlantic Ocean. St. John's is the capital of the Province and is also largest city.
The landscape of Newfoundland is rugged.Fishing villages(or Outports, depending on your point of view) line the shores and the many islands off the coastr. Most of the interior of Newfoundland and almost all of Labrador is barren. The population of the province is concentrated for the most part on the coastline. The name Newfoundland was first used in 1497. An English registry recorded the discovery of Terra Nova or the "new found land."
Newfoundland, and Labradour is the seventh biggest province of Canada.! It has an area of 405,720 sq km. Newfoundland accounts for 112,299 sq km. and Labradour accounts for the rest,293,421 sq km. Newfoundland lies Southeast of Labradour and is seperated from it by the Strait of Belle Isle. Almost all of the province has infertile soils with peat and rock outcroppings. The coastlines of both Newfoundland and Labrador are very irregular, with many bays, islands, and peninsulas.
Most of the province has short cool summers and long cold winters. The northern coast of Labrador has a subpolar climate. The coast of Labrador is somewhat cooler than its interior because of the cold ocean currents. Average July temperatures are about 15° C in Newfoundland and 12° C in Labrador. Average January temperatures range from -4° C to -18° C . The maximum summer temperature throughout most of the province is about 30° C . Winter temperatures may fall to nearly -50° C Labrador and over -30° C in Newfoundland.
Rain averages about 1120 mm yearly. Heavy winter snowfalls are common, especially in Newfoundland.
Animals native to the island are the black bear, woodland caribou, otter, muskrat, fox, and lynx. Moose, was introduced onto the island early in the 20th century, and can be found in large numbers. Most animals found on Newfoundland are also found in Labrador.Additionally, Labrador has mink, wolverine, wolf, and caribou. Birds found in the province are the spruce partridge, ptarmigan, and osprey. Many varieties of ducks and geese make the province home in summer.
Newfoundland is known for its excellent hunting and fishing grounds. In the summer tourists can cruise along the rocky coast. There is also the famous regatta held in August on Quidi Vidi Lake near St. John's. The regatta is the oldest regularly held sports event in North America, originating in 1826.
The province has two national parks: Gros Morne National Park, on Newfoundland's west coast, and Terra Nova National Park, in Bonavista Bay. There are three national historic parks: Signal Hill, at the entrance to St. John's harbor, where the first transatlantic wireless message was received in 1901; Castle Hill, at Placentia; and L'Anse aux Meadows, on the Northern Peninsula, where the first authentic Norse site was found in North America. There are more than 80 provincial parks. Among them are Butter Pot, Sir Richard Squires Memorial, and Barachois Pond.
At the top of Signal Hill is Cabot Tower, which was built in 1897 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of John Cabot's first voyage to the region. The site where Sir Humphrey Gilbert took possession of Newfoundland for England is marked by a memorial in St. John's. Other famous sites include Ferryland, where Lord Baltimore, the founder of Maryland, established a colony in the 1620s; Placentia, in Placentia Bay, the old French capital; and Carbonear Island, which defied all French attempts to capture it in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Like the moto says " Be your own kind of beautiful. " People think pageants are just about " Beauty ", well it's not. It's so much more than that.
